Kenya zebra census uses stripes as natural barcode

Scientists in Kenya are counting a threatened species of zebra, using their stripes as a natural barcode. Grevy’s zebra in East Africa numbered around 15,000 in the late 1970s but are believed to be fewer than 3,000 today.
